Sustainable Investment internship: Two positions on climate and social projects

The Thought Leadership team of Robeco is looking for two motivated interns to support the improvement of proprietary scoring frameworks on climate change and social issues. The SI Thought Leadership team drives research, analytics, and strategy on Robeco’s Sustainable Investing (SI) priority areas, such as climate change, biodiversity, social rights, sustainable development goals, ESG integration and SI data. Interns support our work though focused projects that typically take 4 to 6 months. These projects aim to further develop Robeco’s SI strategy and IP, giving you an opportunity to interact with, and learn from, colleagues across Robeco’s teams.

About the projects

Option 1 | Social framework

The intern will support the Thought Leadership team in enhancing our forward-looking social traffic light. The project aim to improve our existing social traffic light methodology. The project can include:

• Analyse the biases (sector, in the traffic light universe and come up with suggestions for improvement
• How to handle high impact sectors vs low impact sectors
• Start working on selecting (trends in) outcome based social KPIs and look for forward looking metrics.
• Use our Artificial Intelligence tool to scrape new innovative data points.

The intern will report to a senior researcher and collaborate with colleagues across Robeco’s SI Centre of Expertise and investment teams to bring the model to usage.

Option 2 | Climate change framework

The intern will support the Thought Leadership team in enhancing our forward-looking climate traffic light which is being used in our investment strategies. The project aims to improve our analytical model of decarbonization pathways in heterogeneous industry sectors. The project includes:

• Desk research to obtain data and benchmarks from sources such as International Energy Agency
• Conduct sector reviews to identify peer groups of companies
• Development of sector decarbonization benchmarks for defined sub-industries and peer groups
• Pilot test the model in portfolios and gather feedback from investment teams

You will report to a senior researcher and collaborate with colleagues across Robeco’s SI Centre of Expertise and investment teams to bring the model to usage.
