Job Mission

We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Sustainability Manager to join our dynamic team at a leading multinational, solutions provider business in Continental Europe, characterized by being inclusive and decentralized.

This role is pivotal in driving and deploying our sustainability initiatives across the area, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, and supporting our operating companies and brands in achieving their sustainability goals.

The Sustainability Manager will play a key role in customer engagement, provide expertise on ESG related reporting, and deliver comprehensive training across the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

Customer Engagement

  • Support customer engagement initiatives by providing detailed information and presentations on our sustainability efforts and achievements.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to integrate sustainability messaging into customer communications and engagements.
  • Address customer inquiries related to sustainability, ensuring timely and accurate responses.

Environmental Legislation Expertise and ESG reporting

  • Stay up-to-date with current and emerging environmental legislation across Europe and globally.
  • Advise internal teams and operating companies on compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Act as the company expert on sustainability certifications such as Ecovadis and other ESG-related reporting.
  • Provide guidance and support to operating companies on achieving and maintaining certifications.

Community and Training

  • Leading, in collaboration with Operating Companies, a network of sustainability champions within the Area.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on sustainability practices, legislation, and certification requirements.
  • Ensure all staff are knowledgeable about the company’s sustainability goals and initiatives.
  • Organize workshops and seminars to promote continuous learning and development in sustainability.

Strategy Support and Communications

  • Assist operating companies in developing and implementing their sustainability strategies.
  • Provide expert advice on sustainability initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of sustainability projects and strategies.
  • Coordinate the different initiatives that are being carried out across the area and identify and promote best practices to be shared within the area including elements of CR such as community programs, charity, sponsorships and employee volunteering.
  • Represent CE in external events, meetings and organisations related to sustainability, including governmental and non-governmental organisations (NGO) in the region.
  • As appropriate, develop sustainability reports and presentations for employees, media, government, public interest, or other.

Expertise for Own Brands Team

  • Collaborate with our own brands team to integrate sustainability into product development and marketing strategies.
  • Provide insights and recommendations on sustainable sourcing, packaging, and product lifecycle management.
  • Support the development of sustainability-related claims and certifications for our own brand products.
