Operations Excellence & Sustainability Manager

Position Description

Heerenveen is one of the biggest whey factories at Fonterra, operating 24/7, 365 days a year. Producing lactose and protein powder every day – enabling us to supply high-quality ingredients to customers across Europe and globally. This whey is sourced from the adjacent cheese factories of Royal A-ware. Fonterra achieves this with around 75+ enthusiastic colleagues in Heerenveen. The powdered ingredients produced at our site are used in sports nutrition, baby food, and medical applications.

As an Operations Excellence & Sustainability Manager, your responsibilities include:

• Collating the Site Operations Scorecard and driving improvement across KPIs to reach the site’s full potential.
• Driving Business Improvement for the Heerenveen plant, including connection to Fonterra’s Transformation Office.
• Driving Continuous Improvement together with the Site Leadership team and the complete operations team.
• Developing and Driving strategy for Integrated Work System (IWS) implementation in line with Fonterra’s strategy e.g. Run-to-Target implementation etc.
• Developing Fonterra Europe Operations Sustainability strategy and plan in line with Global Fonterra’s and Europe Regulations.
• Supporting in collecting Sustainability deliverables e.g. Regulatory data, reports, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders, raise awareness.
• Providing technical support to the manufacturing team, partners, and internal and external stakeholders. Ensuring products and processes are within Manufacturing capability, process, business, and regulatory requirements.
• Driving the development of new and/or improved processes in dairy manufacturing and the commercialization of technologies. Coordinating product trials on market request.
• Supporting Continuous Improvement coordinator in liaising with operating staff to continually identify, drive operating improvements against performance benchmarks, Problem Solve activities (4SPS) in collaboration with the team.
• Leading, managing and coaching the Continuous Improvement Coordinator.
