Group Sustainability Specialist
Sustainability in IMCD
IMCD recognizes its responsibility to contribute to environmental and social well-being. Embracing sustainability demonstrates a commitment to ethical business practices and responsible corporate citizenship. IMCD aims to further strengthen its position as the go-to distributor in the chemical distribution industry and sustainability is an important pillar of this goal. By integrating sustainability into our business strategy, IMCD will gain a competitive edge, attract environmentally conscious clients, and investors. Over 2024, we established an independent Group Sustainability function, further defined our Group Sustainability strategy and priorities going forward, as well as contributed to the publication of our first Integrated Report. Regarding external acknowledgements, we achieved an Ecovadis Gold rating, B-level performance in CDP, and we are a member of Together for Sustainability (TfS), a chemical industry sector initiative.
Your opportunity:
As a Sustainability Specialist, you will be part of our Group Sustainability team focusing mainly on implementing strategic sustainability projects aiming to improve our processes around the environmental, social, and governance related practices of IMCD.
In this role, you are one of the key actors to implement sustainability in all our global operations. You will closely work with other Group functions, as well as local entities and our eight business groups. Example projects in which you will participate are related to reducing our emissions, completing ESG rating requests such as EcoVadis, CDP, Sustainalytics, and CDP, participate in our voluntary memberships such as Together for Sustainability and United Nations Global Compact. One of the main roles of the Group Sustainability team is to be the simplifier of sustainability within IMCD. Therefore, developing training material to create awareness and further understanding of the topic is also part of the role.
Based in Rotterdam and reporting to the Group Sustainability Manager, you will work and collaborate with other Group functions, Regions, and Business Groups. Only limited travelling can be expected as main work is done at IMCD HQ or online.
Your primary responsibilities:
- Support in various sustainability projects related to, but not limited to, emission calculations, decarbonization roadmap development, and sustainability target setting.
- Contribute to the delivery of sustainability training and awareness creation amongst IMCD’s global workforce.
- Lead and participate in ESG benchmarking projects and ratings relevant for IMCD Group (e.g. EcoVadis, CDP, Sustainalytics, ISS ESG), as well as our voluntary commitments (e.g. Together for Sustainability and United Nations Global Compact).
- Support local entities in their individual EcoVadis submissions and answer any sustainability related questions and / or queries.
- Collaborate with our Group Control team in writing and providing information and data for our Integrated Report, as well as developing input for sustainability related policies.
- Be the point of contact and work closely with other Group functions (e.g. supply chain, HSEQR, and HR) as well as local countries to collect, review, and analyse sustainability related data and information, as part of our quarterly data collection.
