Op initiatief van De Groene Zaak is een aantal duurzame ondernemingen erin geslaagd de basis te leggen voor een nieuw, internationaal toepasbaar systeem waarin de materiaalsamenstelling van producten wordt vastgelegd. Door de gebruikte grondstoffen te labelen en vast te leggen in een ‘Resources Identity Tag System’ (RITS) kunnen deze veel eenvoudiger en efficiënter worden gerecycled en opnieuw worden ingezet in het productieproces. De Groene Zaak spreekt van een doorbraak op weg naar een meer circulaire economie.

De transitie naar een circulaire economie, waarin het hergebruik van grondstoffen centraal staat, neemt dit weekend een grote sprong. Hierin staat een overzicht van de algemene richting en te nemen stappen door overheid, bedrijfsleven, wetenschap en NGO’s om de kracht van een circulaire economie versneld te ontketenen.

Desso, Europees fabrikant van tapijt en sportoppervlakken, heeft een nieuwe mijlpaal bereikt. Een groot deel van de commerciële en residentiële tapijtproducten van Desso is namelijk als eerste ter wereld gecertificeerd onder versie 3.0 van de Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard, die wordt toegekend door het Cradle to Cradle Products Institute. Een aanzienlijk deel van zowel Desso’s commerciële tapijttegels als commercieel en residentieel kamerbreed tapijt bereikte de status van Cradle to Cradle Certified Brons.

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has today launched the Circular Economy 100 (‘CE100’), a three year programme aimed at bringing together a network of 100 leading companies globally to facilitate development and commitment to new circular economy projects. The CE100 will provide executive education on key themes and emerging trends, share knowledge and new learnings, and identify and develop solutions to common challenges. The objective is that by 2015 participating companies will have triggered circular initiatives that will result in an aggregated economic benefit of $10bn for the businesses involved.
