Een oproep van VN-secretaris-generaal Kofi Annan aan het internationale bedrijfsleven om op vrijwillige basis negen principes van maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen te onderschrijven. Momenteel hebben circa 1500 grote bedrijven uit zeventig landen het initiatief omarmd. Daarmee is het volgens de Verenigde Naties wereldwijd het grootste vrijwillige project op het gebied van maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen .
