Niet alleen is de maatschappelijke druk groot. Er valt ook wat aan te verdienen. Een goed imago betaalt zich vroeg of laat terug. Toch worstelen ze met de aanpak. Sinds begin dit jaar zitten ze gezamenlijk in een klas en de eerste resultaten lijken veelbelovend.

Sasol Servo BV, Delden, has won the Association of the Dutch Chemical Industry (VNCI) Responsible-Care Award 2004. During VNCI’s Annual Meeting in Rotterdam the Association’s Chairman, Dr C.A. Linse, presented the Award to Mr R.J.M. Monninkhoff, Sasol Servo’s Managing Director. Sasol Servo won the Award for its Het ontwikkelen van een Product Stewardship Management Tool voor MKB-chemie, -The Development of a Product-Stewardship Management Tool for Chemical Companies in the Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Sector’ project. Companies can employ this tool to assess the financial and economic feasibility of the use of chemicals and products and to determine whether they should continue to be available on the market. -In addition to the innovative nature of this project, the jury was also very impressed by Sasol Servo’s willingness to make the system available to all VNCI members”, according to the jury.

Cosmeticagigant Este Lauder en Mount Romance lanceren een nieuwe manier van zakendoen. Australië’s grootste cosmetica huis Mount Romance, sinds begin dit jaar ook aanwezig in de Benelux, lanceert ‘Indigenous Certification’ in de internationale parfumindustrie hierbij gesteund door Este Lauders dochter Aveda
Van 1 tot 5 juni 2004 heeft Mount Romance het nieuwe protocol voor de parfumindustrie gepresenteerd op het Wereld Parfum Congres in Cannes, Zuid Frankrijk. Het protocol zorgt voor een eerlijke en gebalanceerde samenwerking tussen de parfumindustrie en inheemse gemeenschappen in diverse werelddelen waaronder Australië. Duurzaamheid en fair trade zijn de sleutelelementen. Naast Este Lauder werd het model ook zeer positief ontvangen door andere grote cosmetica bedrijven als Yves Rogier, Chanel en Hermes.
