On Tuesday, 22 April 2025, KPMG will host the CSRD Data Live Event ‘Organizing (IT) Control in ESG Reporting & Strengthening Assurance’. Reliable ESG data and a strong (IT) control environment are important to steer the company for long-term value, leveraging opportunities and managing risks. Meeting (future) CSRD requirements should not be seen as a goal in itself, but a result of the process. However, many organizations are still facing key challenges in achieving this, such as:
- Manage internal and external data sources, including ensuring reliability of ESG data
- Defining criteria for defining ESG reporting architecture & selecting ESG tooling
- Setting up effective (IT) internal controls
This event is designed to inform CIOs, IT Directors and staff responsible for ESG data, IT and Data Leads responsible for ESG reporting, ESG Risk Officers, Sustainability (Reporting) Managers, Operational and IT Auditors working with ESG processes & data, Financial Controllers, Finance Reporting Managers, and Finance Directors.
Please note that the session is most effective for those with a basic knowledge of the CSRD, as it will delve into deeper details of ESG, requiring an understanding of ESG reporting.
Subject
We will kick off the event with insights on the latest update on CSRD/Omnibus and a benchmark analysis of the first CSRD annual reports published in Q1, 2025. In addition, we will deep dive in the topics such as ESG Technology control environment, reliability of (external) data and role of ESG architecture and tooling in this.
We will focus on two critical aspects of ESG reporting in a break out session. Therefore please choose your desired topic when registering:
1. ESG architecture & tooling
What characteristics should ESG architecture & tools have to facilitate reporting, and how to ensure compliance?
2. Managing the Reliability of External Data
How to assure quality of externally sourced ESG data and integrate this into the reporting process?
KPMG experts, alongside industry leaders, will discuss their experiences in managing ESG data, maintaining control, and preparing for assurance.
With the first reports being completed, now is the time to take action. This event will provide you with practical guidance and real-world examples to help strengthen your ESG reporting framework and control environment.
What to expect from this session:
- A structured approach to gaining (IT) control over ESG reporting
- Best practices for assessing and integrating external data sources
- Concrete application of effective data governance and internal controls
- Insights into selecting the right ESG reporting tools
- Interactive discussions with KPMG experts and industry peers
