The Honorable Shirley Franklin, Mayor of Atlanta, will greet the symposium participants. National and local experts will address the senior executives and employees, including:
Ann Cramer, director of Corporate Community Relations and Public Affairs, IBM
Daniel Esty, Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy, Yale University
Andrea Thomas, manager of Skills-Based Volunteerism, Hands on Atlanta
Dr. C.T. Vivian, civil rights activist
“Bringing together employees who are involved in our corporate citizenship efforts at the grass roots level with our most influential executives to learn best practices from other companies and leverage our own capabilities will help strengthen our focus on corporate social responsibility,” said Rhonda Mims, president of the ING Foundation. “Today, corporations are expected to proactively demonstrate their commitment to community, and ING is taking measures to live up to that responsibility.”
Highlights of the symposium include sessions on topics such as linking diversity and community relations to business objectives, tactics on emerging environmental consciousness and expanding employee volunteerism to support nonprofits.
Also during the symposium, the company will host an awards ceremony to recognize ING employees who have executed outstanding community service and diversity programs in their locations.
