The majority of changes are intended to clarify the intent of the standard on specific issues. There are two significant changes (1) the addition of homeworkers, who are now covered under the scope of the standard and (2) periodic overtime may be required if it is part of a collective bargaining agreement. The revised version of SA8000 and a brief summary of the changes are available on the SAI website.

The foreign-language versions of the standard are currently being edited. The SA8000 Guidance Document — which further elaborates on the intent of the standard and recommendations on how to audit against it — is currently under revision; comments on the existing Guidance Document and general input into this revision process are very welcome
