Connected
In industry, everything is connected to everything else: processes are increasingly digitalized, and process data is shared and combined. Data from other parts of the chain can enable independent processes to be modified to achieve significant optimization.
Sustainable
The factory of the future is powered (almost) entirely by renewable energy, specifically solar energy. Electrification will create new and potentially disruptive business models because electrical drive systems enable industrial processes to be redesigned. Furthermore, circularity plays a crucial role: horizontal circularity, such as waste from end-products as raw materials for new production processes, as well as vertical circularity; reduction of harmful emissions.
Flexibility
The factory with the most, and sustainable, business potential, is a smaller, scalable facility that focuses on innovative and specialized products. This factory also makes direct use of data from the entire chain to enable immediate changes to be made. Its products are of high quality, locally and sustainably produced.
