As an intern in the ESG Business Planning & Performance (BPP) team, you are part of the ESG team within the broader Finance BPP team of Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia (EU&I). With this team you are responsible for the presentation of our performance on our ESG KPIs at European level and to and evaluate this with relevant business and finance stakeholders. We combine this with forward-looking business planning and improvement roadmaps to understand the potential and to define our ambition for these KPIs. We advise our local brand CFOs and their BPP teams on all elements of the planning and performance cycle for ESG and support them in achieving their performance goals. You will have frequent contact with our local counterparts in brands teams across Europe and Indonesia.

ESG is an area that is growing rapidly and receiving a lot of attention, both internally and externally. The Ahold Delhaize strategy on ESG is under continuous development. We want to excel on the KPIs where we can add value in line with our strategy and business model as a (food) retail company. Performance management on our most important KPIs is a journey to improve every day. You will be part of this exciting journey. You will work on our existing planning and performance management cycles throughout the year, but also on the many new initiatives. Both to align with our strategy as well as with external legislative requirements. You can expect you will not be bored. We need your innovative ideas!

A significant part of your time will be spend on change and improvement initiatives. You are involved in bringing our ESG performance management cycle up to par with our financial cycle (on EU level and also supporting brands in doing so). You will support the team to play an active role in improving the reporting and review process and in supporting/stimulating (brand) colleagues to integrate this in their local ways of working.

Prepare the materials for our recurring performance management cycles.
Be part of the quarterly ESG performance reviews with brands.
Evaluation of results and trends on ESG KPIs and present these back to our EU CFO and other stakeholders.
Be the linking pin between our EU&I retail brands and Ahold Delhaize global group, ensuring effective communication in both directions.
Create overviews/dashboards to gain insights on the performance of our local brands.
Contribute to the forecasting and target setting process.
Be involved in the long-term planning of KPI performance and building quantified roadmaps for the EU&I region.
Contribute to our active and lively EU&I ESG community.
Develop, maintain and improve templates for recurring reporting and specific initiatives (e.g. business case or compliance driven)
Work on training and instruction materials for brands and other stakeholders. For example, for new strategic initiatives or regulations. Support the team to act as partner for the brands and our EU CFO – have an open mindset to enable the rapid changes in the ESG context.
You will be part of the broader Finance BPP team of Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia. A vibrant team existing of 20 financials including a sub-team of 3 ESG specialists. Your workspace is at the headquarters in Zaandam. Close to our Dutch brands.
