Our Global Support Office (GSO) Health & Sustainability (H&S) team is passionate about driving systemic change and maximizing impact. The H&S team aims to achieve this by connecting brands, leveraging knowledge and embracing innovation.

Starting February 2025, within the GSO H&S team we are looking for support with two internship positions:

• One within the smaller ESG Strategy, Performance & Engagement team made up of a Director and a Specialist who will supervise you.
• One within the Climate & Environment team with around 6 colleagues.

As an intern in our team you contribute directly to the exciting journey of delivering Ahold Delhaize’s H&S plans. You get the chance to explore topics and support experts on, for instance, climate, circularity (food waste and plastics), health, nature and ESG at one of the world’s largest food retail groups. Joining alongside many other interns within Ahold Delhaize and our brands in the Netherlands, you’ll be onboarding together with peers as part of your exciting learning journey. As an intern you will support activities such as:

• Keeping track of and sharing best practices, across our brands. For example, helping an expert in the H&S team with making compelling overviews of initiatives that reduce food waste, plastic packaging or emissions that could be scaled from one brand to another.
• Conducting relevant practical desk research. For example, analyzing peers in our industry on sustainability targets, initiatives and performance.
• Collecting relevant input for ESG ratings and benchmarks and analyzing improvement potential.
• Internal engagement, awareness and capability building initiatives. For example, supporting associate learning initiatives related to health & sustainability by organizing webinars and activation events.

For this position your work availability is 32-40 hours per week. We work in a hybrid way, with a strong preference for at least two days per week working from our head office in Zaandam. This is an internship where you will be working as part of the team, it is not a research internship that can be combined with, for example, in-house thesis research.

• Feeling for Health & Sustainability dynamics in the global (food) retail sector and its value chain.
• Project coordination skills.
• Verbal & written communication skills within a large professional organization.
