Start Date: ASAP

Work hours: 40 hrs p/w (full-time, flexible)

Location: Remote/Hybrid (within +/- 1 hour CET; candidate must have an existing permit to live and work in the country they reside)

Contract: 1 year with a possibility for an extension by mutual consent

Salary: €40,000 – €43,000 gross per annum on a full-time basis

Position Summary

GRI is an independent NGO and standard-setter with over the last 26 years, our standards have created a global language used by organizations to provide transparency. At GRI we enable organizations to assess and report on the environmental, social, and economic impacts of their activities. We also help build organizational capacity for sustainability reporting: from our Academy training courses to working with licensing partners to enable digital reporting with GRI’s standards. We are now seeking a research associate to provide information and analysis about environmental, social, and economic impacts across different sectors and topics in order to advance the development of GRI standards and other activities.

Responsibilities

Delivery

  • Engage with colleagues to understand their knowledge needs and translate them into actionable research questions.
  • Compile data, identifying the best available sources and determining their validity; store the data safely and efficiently, ensuring access by colleagues.
  • Analyse quantitative or qualitative data, applying appropriate tools and methodologies.
  • Identify and adopt new tools and methodologies for qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Identify and review the literature on relevant subjects; determine the validity of different sources; analyze and synthesize ideas.
  • Interact with stakeholders in private conversations or public meetings to extract and synthesize information relevant to their research projects.
  • Produce research outputs that explain, in clear language, the conclusions of the research and that provide specific recommendations. The outputs can be in the form of written documents or presentations to colleagues.
  • Organize the information produced by their research in a way that is easy to find and use by other colleagues, including bibliographical records, documents, and datasets.
  • Support other research-related functions as required.

Engagement

  • Participate in events, seminars, workshops, and occasional meetings; communicate key ideas about GRI Standards and the position of the organization; interact with participants, listen to stakeholders, and report their key messages.
